The City of Miami, Oklahoma, lit up a new neon sign along its Route 66 corridor during a ceremony last week.
The sign, which features “Miami” and a Route 66 shield, sits in the 400 block of North Main Street (aka Route 66). The event was part of the city’s Route 66 Heritage Fest during the weekend.
KSNF-TV in nearby Joplin, Missouri, reported:
The project was made possible through a negotiation involving the Miami Special Utility Authority and Allen Sign Studio, LLC.
As part of the agreement, the utility authority traded several vacant lots it owned to Allen Sign Studio in exchange for the new sign.
