Owners put Del’s Restaurant, Kix on 66 up for sale

Sisters Yvette Peacock and Yvonne Braziel, who own Del’s Restaurant and Kix on 66 in Tucumcari, New Mexico, announced Tuesday they are ready to retire and have put the Route 66 restaurants up for sale.

Del’s has been one of Tucumcari’s most popular lunch-and-dinner spots for decades, and Kix also has become a popular breakfast-and-lunch destination on 66.

Peacock wrote in a Facebook post:

After many years of serving the travelers of Route 66, our friends and families of Tucumcari and the surrounding area, we are looking to pass the torch on our successful businesses. We would love for someone with a connection and love of Route 66 and Tucumcari, to carry on the traditions of Del’s Restaurant and Kix on 66, for many years to come.
Yvette and Yvonne are the 3rd owners of Del’s since its inception in 1956. Del Akin built and owned it from 1956-1978. Our Mom, Jessica, owned it from 1978 until we purchased it in 1995. It is a powerhouse. We have been the sole owners of Kix on 66 since its inception in 2004. They are both rock solid, profitable businesses serving thousands and thousands of people each year.
Both Del’s Restaurant and Kix on 66 are turn key opportunities that will be profitable to a new owner operator from the start. We are looking to sell both restaurants with all contents, land and buildings, either as a package of both restaurants, or each restaurant separately.
If you know of anyone looking for a terrific investment, or to relocate to Tucumcari and own a place on Route 66, please share our information so they may contact Yvette or Yvonne at Del’s. We have been blessed, but after 23 years, we are ready to retire. Thank you all for supporting us at Del’s Restaurant and Kix on 66 for so many years. May God continue to bless us all for many years to come.

The sisters took over Del’s in 1995 and later opened Kix on 66 in a former Denny’s restaurant.

In a follow-up text, Peacock wrote they are asking for $850,000 for Del’s and $350,000 for Kix. Interested parties can call John Dugger for more information at (575) 815-9266.

The sisters also once owned Rockin’ Y’s Roadhouse on the east side of Tucumcari on Route 66 and U.S. 54, but a fire destroyed it in 2015.
