Newest neon sign revealed in Tulsa’s Route 66 neon-sign grant program

A Tulsa design firm recently provided a sneak peek of the newest sign to be a part of that city’s Route 66 neon-sign grant program.

Brethren Design Co. posted on Instagram an image of the neon sign for a new location for one of the Chicken and the Wolf restaurants at Harvard Avenue and 11th Street (aka Route 66).

The sign is being fabricated by Claud Neon Federal Signs in Tulsa, which has been making such signs since the 1930s.

Dennis Whitaker, a member of the Tulsa Planning Office, said in an email last week his office has a total of 52 neon-sign grant applications, with six not yet complete.

The program finished its first sign about three years ago, and the growth of neon signage in Tulsa has been staggering since that time.
