Rick and Sheila Koch announced earlier this month they were selling over a dozen ASAP Energy properties in Oklahoma, including Lucille’s Rhoadhouse restaurants in Weatherford and Clinton.
The Casey’s convenience store megachain is purchasing the properties.
“We want more for our Employees – more opportunities for professional growth, more resources, and more possibilities for long-term success,” the Koches stated in an annoucement about the sale.
“We believe Casey’s can provide those opportunities. Casey’s is a company where people can build long, rewarding careers, and we see this as an incredible opportunity for our Team members to grow alongside a thriving brand.”
The Oklahoman reported the sale involved a total of 16 properties.
The Koches had owned ASAP Energy for 47 years. The selling price wasn’t disclosed.
Lucille’s Roadhouse restaurant, first started in Weatherford, was inspired by Lucille Hamons, who ran a gas station and motel along Route 66 near Hydro for many years.
The Koches also fixed up the declining Lucille’s gas station after Hamons died.
ASAP convenience stores were along several spots along the Route 66 corridor, including Bristow, Geary, Hinton, Hydro and the aforementioned Weatherford and Clinton.
Casey’s, founded in 1968 in Iowa, operates almost 3,000 convenience stores in 19 states. The chain’s CEO said it is undertaking an expansion of its operations.
