Neon sign for defunct Hi-Line Motel in Ash Fork is undergoing restoration

Earlier this month, the neon sign for the defunct Hi-Line Motel in Ash Fork, Arizona, was taken down so it can be restored and reinstalled.

The Ash Fork Route 66 Historical Museum posted photos and video on Facebook of the sign being taken down by the restoration team.

No timeline was given for the sign being re-erected.

Blue Miller of Never Quite Lost reported that the motel was demolished on Dec. 30 after it had been declared unfit for human occupancy three years earlier. It has been closed since the early 2000s. She snapped photos of the property weeks before it was razed.

Route 66 Times reports it opened as the Hi-Line Modern Auto Court in 1936. It once had a Shell gas station, but it disappeared in the 1950s when the highway was widened.
