The distinctive Hawks Dairies building on the 11th Street alignment of Route 66 was recently added to the National Register of Historic Places.
The designation became effective on Oct. 5, according to an email from the National Park Service that administers the program.
According to Historic Tulsa, the Hawks Dairies building, designed by Kansas City architect Gerard W. Wolf, opened in 1948 at 2415 E. 11th St.
It closed in the early 1960s.
A local developer last year announced the Art Deco building would be converted into a boutique hotel, retail space and a restaurant, but that plan fell through a few months later.
The building sits almost directly across the street from the Mother Road Market.
