The Bloomington (Ill.) Pantagraph has filed the first report about the Illinois Route 66 Red Carpet Corridor weekend, which takes places along 90 miles of the Mother Road from Joliet to Towanda.
As expected, the reporter talked to people who were nostalgic about Route 66. I sure wish those people would quit talking about that historic highway in the past tense, like it had expired long ago. Route 66 is still very much alive.
I’ll post more reports as they come in.
If anything, movies like Cars and the one in the previous post should be boosting interest in 66 to all new (at least for recent times) levels.
All I know is that my wife and I are definitely looking forward to our drive of it in a few days.
