The Arizona Daily Sun has a story about the 275-strong car show during Route 66 Days in Flagstaff, Ariz.
It sounds like the organizers put on a first-rate event:
Bortree said the car show, which has grown considerably from 88 entries in 2005, is unique and appealing not only for its location, but in how the awards are presented: winners report to the City Hall parking lot, and as their names are announced, they get to drive up to the awards podium.
Also, as each car rolled into the display area at the start of the show, a club member would snap a photo. That allowed for organizers to print out and attach a picture of the winning cars to their trophies.
Top finishers also get cash prizes, not common in smaller shows, Bortree said.
No wonder the size of the show more than tripled in just a few years. Other car-show organizers, please take note.
