The Chelsea (Oklahoma) Area Historical Society recently announced it would hold a ribbon-cutting for its Chelsea Area Historical Museum in a century-old corner building on July 31.
The ribbon cutting will be at 10:30 a.m. that day, with a short program afterward. Cake and drinks will be offered.
The museum is at 200 W. Sixth St., one block from Route 66. The museum actually opened in May.
The historical society and Chelsea Municipal Authority spent more than five years cleaning out and renovating the old bank building.
The Bank of Chelsea opened in 1904 and was probably one of the first state banks in Indian Territory, before Oklahoma became a state.
Here’s more about the building:
Hours at the museum are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
