A 25-foot-long neon corndog — condiments included — was erected Monday at the Route 66 Experience park near the southeast entrance of the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield.
The big corndog serves as a salute to the landmark Cozy Dog Drive-In restaurant along Route 66 in Springfield.
More from the Illinois Route 66 Scenic Byway:
The byway had been hinting at this new attraction for a few days. And it says “a few finishing touches” will be arriving in a few weeks.
Here’s what it looked like at night:
The neon corndog arrived in time before the Illinois State Fair, which runs from Aug. 13 through Aug. 23.
The Route 66 Experience neon park in the fairgounds, however, is lit nightly at all parts of the year.
