The iconically shaped Beef Burger Barrel restaurant in Amarillo, Texas, was recently put on the market for $100,000.
The eatery is at 3102 Plains Blvd., a little more than a mile south of the city’s Sixth Street alignment of Route 66. But its early roots were part of the Mother Road.
Lyons Realty is listing the property. This is what it said about it:

The listing states that the walk-up restaurant is a cozy 325 square feet.
According to an old Amarillo Globe-News article, the Beef Burger Barrel was at Amarillo Boulevard (Route 66) and Hayes Street in 1947. The restaurant, which moved several times, was started in 1937. It wound up at its current location in 1952.
KAMR-TV in Amarillo talked to real-estate agent Camryn Thompson about the property:
Thompson said she was told the original owner found the barrel in someone’s backyard, bought it and eventually turned it into a place to cook and sell burgers.
The restaurant later became a popular stop for people in the area. Thompson said she has heard stories of people stopping near the train tracks to grab a burger and couples going to the restaurant for their first dates.
Thompson said the property already has received offers.
