A restored 12-foot-tall neon bowling pin installed at Bowlmor Lanes RT 66 in Lebanon

A 12-foot-tall neon bowling pin that once stood in Kansas now stands restored at Bowlmor Lanes RT 66 in Lebanon, Missouri.

The bowling alley at 1331 E. U.S. Route 66 stands across the road from the landmark Munger Moss Motel neon sign.

Bowlmor acquired the big bowling pin — with “BOWLING” in neon letters — that once stood atop the All Star Lanes facility in Salina, Kansas. All Star Lanes closed around 2019.

More from the installation:

Garrett Jackson at SixOne Arts of Camdenton, Missouri, completed the pin’s restoration.

The BowlMor was once known as Starlite Lanes, established about 1950.

For many Route 66ers, it became a popular place for a meal and to roll a few gutter balls because it was across the road from the historic Munger Moss Motel, which is now closed to overnight travelers.
