Year in review at the Blue Swallow Motel

Kevin and Nancy Mueller of the Blue Swallow Motel in Tucumcari, N.M., put together this slide show of happenings in 2012 at the historic landmark.

From the description:

Our second year of operation was a whirlwind of activity and restoration work. We had so many wonderful guests, and wish we could show every one of them! We hope you enjoy this glimpse into what living and working on Route 66 is all about.

The video is nearly 29 minutes. Yes, the Muellers were busy. 😉

  1. We took our son and two granddaughters on a Route 66 road trip in March 2012, from St. Louis to Albuquerque. We stayed in the two bedroom family unit at the Blue Swallow, and were thrilled to see items from the early days….pink stove in the kitchen, rotary dial telephones, magazines from the 50’s (I think…can’t remember), chenille blue swallow bedspreads, lamps, furniture…everything taking us back in time…even the archways. Neat to be able to show our granddaughters how life used to be. Loved the paint jobs, the old vehicles, the murals, the gift shop, the dogs, and the Muellers. Our stay at the Blue Swallow, and tour of Tucumcari was probably the highlight of our week long trip. Hope we can go back again some day. This had to be one of the best vacations we have spent with our granddaughters!!
