Videos document nearly every town on Route 66

John Wise is a YouTuber who “tries to visit everywhere in the world and drink every flavor of slushie.”

He completed a Route 66 trip a few months ago with the goal to document — even for just a few seconds — every town on the route. That includes the lesser-traveled 1926-1932 alignment south of Springfield, Illinois, and the Santa Fe Loop.

Wise also proves adept in getting drone footage during his journeys.

Each video documents one of the eight states that Route 66 traverses:

As a bonus, here’s some drone footage Wise shot along the Mother Road.

  1. Dear Route 66,

Please tell me the location of the divided road at the very top of this list of photos. Looks like the last stop in Texas headed west.

  2. Looks like we’re both right. It is the last stop in Texas headed west

    Glenrio, Route 66 Texas

Glenrio is the first town after entering Texas from New Mexico; it is right on the state line. It is 73 miles west of Amarillo along I-40, and It is 176 mi (284 km) west of the Texas – Oklahoma state line. In New Mexico are: San Jon (18 mi.), Tucumcari (42 mi) and Santa Rosa (102 mi.). Albuquerque is 218 miles away.

  3. John Wise or “Wiseguy” produced a grand overview for planning a road trip. He is a man of few words but his camera work driving the road is exceptional. The drone shots are a plus as well. Thank you, John. I binge watched all the states.

  4. Thanks for this John. I watched them all. We did Route 66 in September 2015 in a rented 57 Chevy. These videos brought back a ton of memories for us, especially since we also stayed a lot of the same iconic hotels. I now have a 58 Impala and I’m getting it ready for another long drive from Toronto. One question…..why December?

  5. Great Videos ! I watched them all. Exceptional narratives, Mr. Wise, and I liked that you documented the Population of all the towns. The Maps shown in the Video were excellent illustrating the driving en-route to Santa Monica.
