Big A the Texaco Giant, a specially commissioned 21-foot-tall fiberglass figure, was successfully installed Sunday at Gearhead Curios in Galena, Kansas.
The giant, colloquially called a Muffler Man, was installed by ReGiant at the former Texaco station at 520 S. Main St. (Route 66).
Here are a bunch of photos or videos from the event:
Gearhead Curios owner Aaron Perry commissioned the creation of Big A, which strongly resembles one of the rare Texaco Big Friend giants except for the goatee.
In May, Perry received a $12,500 tourism attraction development grant from the state of Kansas to help with the project.
Perry in 2018 acquired a 1939 Texaco gas station along Route 66 in downtown Galena.
Since that time, he’s added a Doc Hudson replica from the “Cars” movie, installed neon lighting, a modified Big Boy statue and, now, Big A.
