Gearhead Curios in Galena to hold official ribbon-cutting on June 17

Mark your calendars. Gearhead Curios of Galena, Kansas, will hold an official ribbon-cutting at 1 p.m. June 17 to celebrate several years of work on the former Texaco station.

“It will have been almost 5 years of renovations; we have been soft open since March of ’22 but come June we will be ready ready :)” owner Aaron Perry stated in an email.

Perry closed the deal in the fall of 2018 on acquiring the 1939 Texaco at 520 S. Main St. (aka Route 66) in downtown Galena.

Since then, he’s added a Doc Hudson replica from the “Cars” movie, installed neon lighting and added a modified Big Boy statue, along with a lot of renovations.

Perry showed before-and-after images of the station:

Gearhead Curios also is planning a Pinups on Route 66 photo shoot at 3 p.m. on Sept. 23.
